Airdrie Avenue of Light
Airdrie Avenue of Light
We collaborated with LL&D to transform Airdrie’s tree-lined avenue into a dynamic procession of lights.
North Lanarkshire Council approached Bigg Design looking to update an existing yet ageing tree lighting scheme. The old lights were starting to fail and offered only a mix of static white and blue lights. Bigg Design worked with LL&D to realise a fully controllable, animated and colour change lighting scheme to truly enliven the route and create a stunning gateway into Airdrie.
Sited on the A89 as it intersects Centenary Park at Alexander St, the new tree lights welcome visitors and residents alike with a continually evolving display from classic white to full colour change and animation down to individual bulb level.
The lights have been programmed to contain special displays for specific calendar dates e.g. pinks and reds for Valentine’s Day; blues and whites for St Andrew’s; oranges, purples and greens at Halloween; reds and golds at Christmas and a full ‘firework’ effect at New Year’s Eve. The possibilities really are endless and the programmes can be added to and altered over time, ensuring something special to surprise and delight viewers for years to come.
